Open Awards Access to HE Learners - What Happens Next FAQs

Open Awards Access to HE - Key Dates 2022

We can reissue certificates for you if we have a record of you on our system. If we do, you will be asked to complete a copy of our certificate reissue form. Please click here for more information.

All certificates are dispatched to an agreed contact at the provider. Learners should be directed to the provider.

UCAS have a really useful tool for finding this out. All you need to do is choose the Access to HE Diploma from the qualification drop down and enter the number of credits at pass, merit and distinction and the calculator will show the total points.

You can find the UCAS tariff calculator here - https://www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator

N.B: learners have to have 45 graded credits to qualify for UCAS points

It’s a good idea to try to resolve your concerns with the college and follow their internal appeals and complaints procedure. If you have done this and feel that you need to further discuss with Open Awards please review the guidance in our Enquiries and Appeals Policy and get in touch at 0151 494 2072.

Your certificate will be sent directly to your Access to HE Provider by 22nd July 2022 unless we have a query with your award. Your provider will contact you regarding the certificate once they have checked it.

Please make sure that the provider has your correct address. For more information on key dates for this year, please refer to the images at the top of the page.

We produce all learners' certificates within two weeks of the grades being signed off by the provider and confirmed by Open Awards. All certificates are sent directly to the provider (we expect to have this completed this year by 22nd July 2022) so if you haven’t received your certificate, please contact your provider to find out how to obtain your certificates.

For more information on key dates for this year, please refer to the images at the top of the page.

If you have achieved the full qualification, you will receive a certificate displaying this. You will also receive a unit transcript which will display the units you have studied and the grades achieved. Universities may ask to see these certificates so keep them safe!

Results will be uploaded to UCAS on 25th July 2022. These results are then made available to the universities you have applied for who will check the results against your offers and make contact with you.

For more information on key dates for this year, please refer to the images at the top of the page.

You can calculate the UCAS points that you have achieved by clicking using UCAS’s Tariff Calculator here

Open Awards and providers have processes in place to support learners who feel their grades during this period do not reflect their performance.

Learners have been advised to speak to their course tutor and if they have concerns about assessment decisions relating to the achievement of credits or grades, they should discuss these with the relevant member of the course team when the assessed work is first returned to them. A learner may subsequently make a representation through the provider’s formal procedures. They may appeal the grading decision that results as a consequence of a representation, but only on the grounds of evidence of administrative or procedural error.

Your procedures to address representations and appeals will apply. Further information can be found in Open Awards Enquiries and Appeals Policy and Procedures which can be found here.

In addition to the principles of quality assurance aligned to the QAA grading scheme, other quality assurance measures may also be applied. These arrangements are outlined in the Access to HE Provider Handbook which can be found here.

To make sure grades are fair, equitable and robust, AVAs and providers have processes in place to ensure grades go through internal moderation, external moderation and standardisation.

It’s a good idea to try to resolve your concerns with the provider and follow their internal appeals and complaints procedure.

If you have done this and feel that you need to further discuss with Open Awards, please review the guidance in our Complaints Policy.
