Exploring Construction and Building Crafts (Level 1):

Open Awards Level 1 Diploma in Exploring Construction and Building Crafts (RQF)

These qualifications have had their structure simplified, aiding your curriculum planning.

For the Award qualification (and for Certificate and Diploma options) this is 5 credits and the units remain the same.

For the Certificate and Diploma (both non-endorsed and endorsed pathways), learners have the mandatory units and then choose from Vocational Unit Groups:

• C1 Brick and Blocklaying
• C2 Carpentry and Joinery
• C3 Kitchen and Bathroom Fittings
• C4 Painting and Decorating
• C5 Plastering and Finishing

Previously learners would have had to complete an “additional mandatory unit” for each of the above vocational groups plus the units from the vocational groups.

These additional mandatory units have been incorporated into the relevant vocational group, thus making the structure simple. No units have been removed or added.

These qualifications have been extended to 31/08/2027.

These qualifications have had their structure simplified, aiding your curriculum planning.

For all qualifications learners complete:

Mandatory A | Exploring Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction. This is 5 credits.

Optional Units B | Learners can choose units regarding Employability, including working for others and self-employment.

Vocational Groups C | Learners have a choice of vocational groups (as at Level 1). The Certificate and Diploma enable non-endorsed and endorsed pathways.

• C1 Brick and Blocklaying

• C4 Painting and Decorating
• C5 Plastering and Finishing

The optional groups from the previous Level 2 have now been incorporated into Option B Group Employability, thus making a simple structure.

These qualifications have had their structure simplified, aiding your curriculum planning.

For the Award, learners complete one mandatory unit: Improving own learning and performance. Then choose 3 credits from the B Optional Groups which are:

• B1 Employability
• B2 Personal Learning
• B3 Personal Development

For the Certificate, learners complete the same Mandatory unit and have a choice from the B Option Groups, as listed above.

They also have Pathway Option groups which are:

• C1 Art, Design and Crafts
• C2 Digital Media
• C3 Music and Performing Arts
• C4 Photography

We have simplified the structure moving generic units into the B groups and all other units to the pathways.

These qualifications have also been extended to 31/08/2027.

Creative and Cultural Industries (Level 2):

For the Award, learners complete one mandatory unit: Developing own interpersonal skills. Then choose the remaining credit from the B Option Groups which are:

• B1 Employability
• B2 Personal Development

For the Certificate, learners complete the same Mandatory unit and have a choice from the B Option Groups, as listed above.

They also have Pathway Option groups which are:

• C1 Art, Design and Crafts
• C2 Digital Media
• C3 Music and Performing Arts
• C4 Photography

They have also been extended to 31/08/2027.
