Reviewing Qualifications is part of our duties as an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual. When we develop a qualification we add a review date which is normally 5 years’ hence. This is to ensure our Qualifications remain valid and that there is still a demand for them.
Validity has real implications for the value of qualifications for both learners and employers. We need to check whether the qualification still provides an appropriate output of skills and knowledge in relation to its title and purpose. We also need to ensure that it is still required as the needs of learners and employers can change within its lifecycle.
In order to ensure continuity of accreditation, we give plenty of warning ahead of time that qualifications are being reviewed and an opportunity for customers to feed into the process. Therefore, the qualifications listed below are still valid for the current academic year but will be reviewed in the Autumn term in readiness of the next academic year.
What happens now? We will write to all our customers involved in the delivery of these qualifications to advise them of the plans and how they can participate in the review. This will be by the end of September 2019.
We will then complete all the necessary reviews ahead of our Validity Panel in January 2020. Any agreed amendments or withdrawals of qualifications will be communicated to our centres in February 2020, giving 6 months notice to action any amendments.
What if you are delivering the Qualifications in this Academic year (19-20)? The qualifications are available so it is business as usual.
