Open Awards Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (RQF)

Following the Open Awards Validity Panel meeting in December 2021, our Creative and Cultural Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications have been reviewed and extended until 31/08/2027 with the following amendments:

The Rules of Combination and Unit Groupings have been changed to provide a range of Endorsed Pathway routes in the qualifications.

No units been added to or withdrawn from the qualifications and unit content has not been changed.

Level One

The Level 1 Award in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries is a 6 credit award.

Learners must achieve the 3 credits from Mandatory Group A and 3 credits from any units in Optional Groups B1 – B3.

The Level 1 Certificate in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (RQF) has been amended to include Endorsed Pathways in:

  • Art, Design and Craft
  • Digital Media
  • Music and Performing Arts
  • Photography

The Certificate also includes a range of Personal Development and Employability Skills units to give learners a broad curriculum in the Creative and Cultural Industries

To achieve a Level 1 Certificate in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (RQF), learners need to achieve a total of 18 credits: 3 credits from Mandatory Group A, 6 credits from units in Optional Groups B1 and B2, along with 9 credits from any combination of units in Pathway Groups C1 – C4.

In order to gain an Endorsed Pathway Certificate, learners must achieve 9 credits from ONE of the Pathway groups.

Learners will then gain:

Open Awards Level 1 Certificate in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (Endorsed Pathway) (RQF) and the relevant Pathway title (as above) will appear on the learner Certificate.

Level Two

In order to achieve the generic Level 2 Award in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (RQF) learners must a total of 6 credits. With 3 credits from Mandatory Group A and a minimum of 3 credits from any units in Optional Groups B1 and B2.

The Level 2 Certificate in Construction and Building Crafts (RQF) has been amended to include Endorsed Pathways in:

  • Art, Design and Craft
  • Digital Media
  • Music and Performing Arts
  • Photography

To achieve a generic Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (RQF), learners need to achieve 18 credits. With 3 credits from Mandatory Group A, 6 credits from the Optional B Groups, and 9 credits from any combination of units in the Pathway groups C1 – C4.

In order to gain an Endorsed Pathway Certificate, learners must achieve the 3 credits from Mandatory Group A, 6 credits from Optional Group B and 9 credits from ONE of the Pathway groups.

Learners will then gain:

Open Awards Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills for the Creative and Cultural Industries (Endorsed Pathway) (RQF) and the relevant Pathway title (as above) will appear on the learner Certificate.
