In today's world, qualifications are like golden tickets to jobs, education, and career growth. But what happens when those tickets are fake? Ofqual, with the support of Open Awards, are taking the steps to remove qualification fraud and ensure that all certificates truly represent a person's skills and knowledge.
To further fight fraud, Ofqual have updated the action plan for the prevention of qualification fraud. As a proud supporter and signatory of the plan, Open Awards are breaking it down. We’ve asked our Director of Assessment, Robin Jackson to explain Ofqual’s key strategies for our providers.
Ofqual’s action plan
Industry collaboration
Ofqual is teaming up with industry bodies, regulators, and government agencies to fight qualification fraud. They're also working with enforcement agencies to deal with any criminal activities linked to fraud.
Support for Awarding Organisations
Awarding Organisations (AOs) like Open Awards will get a Fraud Prevention Advice Note, helping them spot and reduce fraud risks.
Communication
Ofqual is looking into ways for awarding organisations to share intelligence and data to better detect and prevent fraud.
Spreading the word
They're launching initiatives to help people recognize qualification fraud and understand the serious consequences of getting involved.
Easy reporting
Making it simpler for people to report suspicious activities and concerns about qualification fraud.
Ofqual's efforts, supported by Open Awards, are all about keeping qualifications trustworthy and valuable. By working together, raising awareness, and making it easier to report fraud, we’re taking big steps to protect the integrity of the qualification system.
