Open Awards is delighted to confirm our intention to develop and offer the new Adult Social Care Certificate.
Skills for Care was commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to develop a specification for the development of a new Level 2 Care Certificate qualification based on the existing Care Certificate standards.
Development of the specification was done in collaboration with the sector through a series of focus groups and meetings with stakeholders.
Open Awards has confirmed our intention to proceed to develop the new qualification for adult social care in Wave 1 of the roll-out of this new qualification and are aiming to have it available for delivery from 3rd June 2024 (subject to approval from Department of Health and Social Care and Skills for Care).
The new qualification is part of the Government's plans to develop the domestic care workforce, and comes with £50 million of funding to support the 37,000 individuals in direct adult social care roles to enrol on the new Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualification between June 2024 and March 2025.
If you would like to be involved in the development of this qualification or are interested in delivering this from June 2024, please contact Nina Hinton on [email protected] or 0151 494 2072.
You can find out more on the Skills for Care website.
Please note, that due to the general election announcement, funding decisions have been postponed. We will update all our providers and employers when we know more.
