Apprenticeship Reforms Update December 2025.

You may be aware this week there have been some apprenticeship assessment announcements and publications from Skills England; a blog explaining the apprenticeship assessment reforms, the interim version of the General Requirements document and the initial group of standards to be reviewed. Please see the links below:

We will be in touch with you in early January about what this MAY mean for you.

In the meantime, if you are considering upskilling or refreshing your staff to strengthen your assessment capacity or partner provider Maxam Training offer several options:

  • The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) gives your team the knowledge and confidence to take on the assessor role.
  • The “Foundations of Assessment” course as an option for upskilling, introduction for those new to undertaking assessments or CPD for those who haven’t assessed in a while. This micro-credential is perfect for anyone not wanting a full qualification.

Maxam Training also offer a “Fundamentals of Assessing Behaviours in the Workplace” micro-credential course covering the skills and insights needed to effectively assess behaviours in the workplace, especially in the context of apprenticeship programmes.

Open Awards will be holding a joint launch event with Maxam Training on 15 January 2026, from 4:00–5:00pm.
This session will introduce the micro-credential and explore how it can support providers in assessing apprentice behaviours.

Book your place: Assessing Apprentice Behaviours | Open Awards.

You can also find more information about Maxam Training and the range of training they offer on their website: https://maxamtraining.com/training/.
