Here at Open Awards, there is nothing than seeing and hearing about the amazing and life-changing our qualifications provide.
Recent Southport College graduate Kelly shared her brilliant Access to HE journey, which has lead to her Liverpool John Moores University to study Parademic Science.
Read Kelly's story below and prepare to be inspired;
I have always aspired to study Paramedic science in LJMU and until enrolling on the Access to Higher Education Health course at Southport College I believed that this would never be possible for someone like me who left high school with minimal qualifications.
However, after I was accepted on the Access course I found that with the amazing help, support, and guidance from all my tutors and library staff, that I was able to complete all of the assignments on or before every deadline while achieving distinctions throughout.
The Access course has enhanced my knowledge and academic skills to an undergraduate level which has fully prepared me for university life. While on the Access course I was taught invaluable skills which I will take with me to university such as academic writing, Harvard referencing, research skills, producing academic posters, reports, essays, posters, websites, time management, and much more.
While I was hesitant to go back into full-time education at the age of 27, still working and having a child, I can honestly say that this was the best decision I have ever made in my life.
Completing the Access course has enabled me to progress and gain a place at LJMU to study Paramedic Science in Sept 2020.
I can not thank Linsey Sutton, all of my tutors and the library staff at Southport College enough for all their hard work, time and effort over the past year and helping each and everyone one of us gain a place at our desired University, without you this would not have been possible.
Everyone at Open Awards would like to congratulate Kelly on her amazing achievement and wish her all the best for her study at LJMU.
