Open Awards welcomes the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside

We were delighted to welcome His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Peter Oliver OBE, to Open Awards on 8 October.

As The King’s representative in Merseyside, Peter works with communities and organisations across the region, helping to celebrate their achievements and the difference they make.

The visit was an opportunity to introduce the Lord-Lieutenant to our team and share more about the work we do to change lives through learning, recognising our impact in the Liverpool City Region and across the UK.

Discussing the visit, Peter Oliver OBE said:

“Thank you Heather Akehurst and team for the warm welcome, and for your hard work and impact. I look forward to supporting into the future.”

Heather Akehurst OBE, Chief Executive of Open Awards, said:

“It was wonderful to welcome the Lord Lieutenant and celebrate 45 years of Open Awards providing qualifications across the region and beyond. It was great to hear his plans for his term as Lord Lieutenant; and lovely to hear his offer to remain involved with us.”
