FAQs - Remote Invigilation Service

For queries relating to remote invigilation (including our service, offer and how to use), explore these FAQs.

When booking a remote assessment via the XAMS Assessment Platform, you can schedule assessments within these session times:

  • AM Session: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (Monday to Saturday)
  • PM Session: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Please note that we are closed on Sundays.

 

Assessments can be booked through the XAMS platform.

We require at least 5 working days notice to schedule a remote invigilation.

Open Awards invigilated assessments are available online for Functional Skills from Entry 3-Level 2 and can be scheduled via the XAMS Assessment Platform with 5 working days notice, or 10 working days for SLC.

Multiple choice tests (MCTs) can also be completed using this service.

 

Open Awards’ offers 2 options.

  • Option 1 is ‘Just Invigilation (your test, your course, your system)’ where we simply provide the invigilation service, hosting exams on the systems you already use. This option is suitable for online and paper based assessment.
  • Option 2 is ‘Open Awards Assessed (our test, our course, our system)’ where you choose one of our existing assessments. This option is suitable for online assessments.

Yes, the session will be recorded for quality and compliance purposes.

There may be other participants in the session, but you will not be able to see or hear them.

No, you must not leave the room once your exam has started.

Your ID will be checked, and the invigilator will need to see the room you are in. You will need to conduct a room sweep and use a reflective surface to show your device. Your invigilator will instruct you what do to and ask you to show.

Your exam must take place in a room where you are unlikely to be disturbed and feel comfortable. This might be at home or at work.

Nobody else can be in the same room while your exam is taking place (unless you have been given prior permission by Open Awards to be supported during your exam).
