Open Awards Level 2 Technical Award in Maritime Studies

First teaching for this qualification is September 2018.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to support you to progress to further learning in the maritime sector. This qualification is designed for learners who have a clear idea of what they want to do after their learning and those who have not yet identified your chosen career pathway. It is designed to give you a broad foundation of skills and knowledge that could support progression into a range of career opportunities.

This qualification is made up of 3 units which will require you to commit to approximately 150 guided learning hours.

You will be required to complete 3 mandatory units:

  • Working in the Maritime Sector
  • Introduction to Navigation
  • Maritime Project

You will then have a choice of a maritime project to complete, including:

  • Practical Boat Handling
  • Research Project into the Maritime Sector
