Access to HE - Changes Afoot

QAA recently updated some of the documents from the Recognition Scheme for Access to Higher Education. To save you some time we’ve checked through the documents and provided a summary of changes below. There haven’t been too many changes this time around to these documents so there is very little for you to do but communicate to your colleagues in HE.

Summary of Changes

The Access to Higher Education Diploma Specification 2018

  • ‘Student Registration’ – This section has been updated to reflect the changes to the diploma registration deadline that QAA brought in this academic year – now 6 weeks from the learners individual start date.
  • ‘Credit Transfer’ – A slight addition to the guidance given to AVAs in determining relevance of RPL (paragraph C13)
  • Related AVA licencing criteria have been updated to reflect the current version and format.
  • General formatting changes.

The Grading Scheme Handbook 2018

  • Statement reminding that use of Numerical Marking will cease as of 1st September 2020 where references to numerical marking are made throughout.
  • Related AVA licencing criteria have been updated to reflect the current version and format.
  • General formatting changes.
