5 Benefits of working with a smaller awarding organisation

5 Reasons why it is great to work with a smaller Awarding Organisation

There are currently 162 Ofqual regulated awarding organisations (AOs) operating in England. For their customers this means lots of choice: specialist or generalist? Regional or national? Big or small?

At Open Awards we like to think that good things come in small packages. As a team of 32 we may not be the smallest AOs out there, but we know we are not the biggest either.

We thought we would give some reasons why working with a smaller AO can be great:

  1. You can get to know us

As a small team you can get to know us all and pick up the phone and speak to someone who knows you. Many of us have previous experience working in education which helps us understand your qualification needs. We think this helps us offer great customer service and our customer satisfaction surveys reflect this.

  2. We offer you great value for money

Our overheads are a lot lower than others and this means that we can offer our qualifications at really competitive prices. Have a look at our fees and charges to see how we compare!

  3. We can support your projects

Because of our size we can often help you deliver local projects tailored to a specific need that some larger AOs may not consider. Our team of Business Relationship Managers are always on hand to talk through ideas and support you in creating a business case.

  4. We can turn your developments round quickly

Our processes are equally as thorough as any other AOs, but because our team is smaller it makes it easier for us to bring together the relevant people quickly at each stage of a development. This makes it easier for us to expedite projects where there is a need.

  5. We love to help you innovate

We are not saying larger AOs don’t either. However, for reasons of scale sometimes it can be easier for us to do so. If you have an idea for doing things a little bit differently come and talk to us and we will accommodate where we can.
