Head of Quality and Standards

Salary £45,248 per annum

Permanent post (full time - 35 hours week)

Open Awards are seeking to appoint a highly self-motivated and confident strategic thinker to fulfil the role of Head of Quality. Reporting to the Chief Executive your key responsibilities will be to provide strategic management for our quality assurance operations. You will be managing staff to oversee the quality systems and Access to HE developments for the organisation.

This is a permanent full time position based at our office in Speke, Liverpool and will require some travel across the country attending strategic national events and presenting to audiences to promote Open Awards and provide training. The role also involves: responding to changes and developments within the market and setting achievable targets to meet these changes; chairing panels/meetings; reporting to the Board, Committee and Regulators on quality assurance activity.

The successful applicant will need: experience of working in education; strategic management skills; excellent communication and presentation skills; good planning and organisational skills; and experience of managing staff.

 Development and Marketing Officer

 Salary £25,250 per annum

 Permanent post (full time - 35 hours week)

Open Awards are seeking to appoint a self motivated person to the role of Development and Marketing Officer. 

Working as part of the Business Development Team, you will play an active role in the development of new qualifications, products and services. You will be responsible for the creation of resources, materials and content and will contribute to the development and implementation of Open Awards marketing and communications strategy. Your role is vital in ensuring that our new and existing customers know about all of our products and services. You will have shared responsibility for the day to day running of our website and social media platforms to support the sales and business development functions across the organisation and will play an active role in generating leads and ideas for ongoing business development. This is a permanent full time position based at our office in Speke, Liverpool. 

With excellent written and oral communication skills, you’ll have both an eye for detail and lots of ideas about how we can get our messages across and sell to our customers. With experience and knowledge from either a marketing or education background, you will be supported to learn new skills to fulfill this varied role. Willing to adapt, you’ll respond well to change and will happily juggle multiple projects and work with a wide range of stakeholders, both inside and outside the business.

Lead Quality Reviewer

Salary: £30,158 per annum (pro rata)

Permanent contract – Part-time (0.6 – 21 hours a week)

Location: Flexible to cover London, Midlands or North-West regions

Open Awards are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic highly self-motivated person to the role of Lead Quality Reviewer.  This post plays a key role in developing and supporting relationships with our providers and in assuring the high standards of quality and integrity of our qualifications and assessments, ensuring Open Awards verification processes are complying with regulatory requirements.

This is a field based position. 

Open Awards are an established national Awarding Organisation recognised and regulated by Ofqual and recognised by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) as an Access Validating Agency (AVA) based in Speke, Liverpool.

The role offers variety, and involves working closely with the Quality Team, collaboratively with Centres and Open Awards colleagues in relation to quality issues and quality monitoring of Centres. 

You will be a self-starter with an eye for quality, a positive customer focussed approach, able to manage your own workload and able to work to tight/fixed timescales and meet deadlines.  You will need to travel to meet the demands of the role and will need to attend meetings in Speke as required.

 Apprenticeship Standard Sector Expert

Open Awards are delivering an External Quality Assurance (EQA) service on behalf of the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA) to support them in ensuring high-quality apprenticeship standards.

Our Priority is to undertake a range of evaluation activities with apprenticeship assessment organisations (AAO) to ensure that all standards overseen by the IFA are producing high quality and reliable assessment results.

As part of this work we will be: 

  • Undertaking audits of AAO work
  • Carrying out reviews of evidence from apprentices
  • Performing spot checks on End-Point Assessments
  • Obtaining feedback from stakeholders on apprenticeship standards
  • Completing a comparative evaluation of practice across the apprenticeship sector
  • Overseeing AAO self-assessment activities.

Role purpose

To review evidence produced by Apprentices for End-point Assessments in order to ensure it is fit for purpose and producing high quality outcomes.

We are looking for practitioners with recent relevant experience from the following sectors and job roles:

  • Engineering and manufacturing

  • Legal, finance and accounting

About you
